01 / Overview
AO-INTERACTIVE developed an immersive Virtual Reality experience that allows users to relive and understand the historical event of the Battle of Uhud in an interactive and educational format. Developed in collaboration with the Islamic University of Madinah, the experience was showcased during a university event to provide students and visitors with a deeper understanding of the battle’s structure, strategy, and historical significance.

Navigating Complexity
The Battle of Uhud is a pivotal historical event that is often taught through traditional lectures and texts. The challenge was to transform this historical narrative into an immersive and respectful VR experience that educates users while maintaining historical context and engagement.

Innovative Execution
- Designed a cinematic introduction featuring a horseback tour through the old city of Madinah, allowing users to freely look around and immerse themselves in the historical setting.
- Transitioned the experience into a bird’s-eye view of the city to provide spatial understanding of the battlefield.
- Enabled VR controller-based interaction with an interactive menu system.
- Developed selectable segments allowing users to explore both armies involved in the battle.
- Integrated contextual audio narration for each segment, including dedicated narration for the Archers within the Muslim army.
- Built full battle scenario visualizations to explain formation, positioning, and strategic structure.
