01 / Overview

Look closer. Travel further.

In 2025, AO-INTERACTIVE worked with Mufeed Event Company to create The Aseer Quartet VR telescope installation at Soudha Mountain in Abha, Saudi Arabia. The concept began with a familiar gesture: looking through a telescope. Instead of revealing a distant view, it transported visitors into an entirely different world.

We designed and 3D printed two custom telescope housings, each built to accommodate a Meta Quest 2. The physical object and the virtual experience were conceived together, connecting the mountain setting of The Aseer Quartet with a journey through music and imagination.

The installation was used during the 30-day event at Soudha Mountain in Abha in 2025.

Three worlds. A different kind of concert.

A looping 360° mountain scene set the stage. Looking at a portal transported the visitor to a musical destination, pairing a distinct landscape with a live-performance-inspired moment.

02 / The Challenge

An unexpected home for a VR headset.

The challenge was to bring the object, the performers, and the surrounding landscape into one coherent experience—from the first look through the eyepiece to the world beyond each portal.

Design a custom telescope enclosure around the Quest 2 and bring it into the physical world through 3D printing.
Connect the physical viewing device to a portal-based journey through three distinct musical destinations.
Bring generated performances and full 3D compositions together in high-resolution stereoscopic 360° video.

03 / The Solution

Digital performers. Dimensional worlds.

We constructed the scenes as full 3D compositions, from the mountain terrain to the fantastical performance settings. The telescope was central to the concept: a familiar object became the entrance to an imagined world.

Custom fabrication: Designed the telescope enclosure around the Quest 2, then 3D printed two units for the event.
World building: Created the mountain landscape, lunar setting, and piano world among the clouds as complete 3D scenes.
Performer production: Combined AI-generated green-screen performances with Beeble-generated passes.
Compositing: Integrated the performers into the 3D environments, bringing people and imagined places together in the same scene.
Immersive delivery: Rendered high-resolution stereoscopic 360° videos with looping animation and portal-based navigation.
